After completing a hike up Mount Cameroon, I traveled to the city of Bamenda. Early the next morning, I stepped outside for a run and found myself immersed in the rhythm of the town waking up, people heading to the market, exercising along the road, and opening their shops for the day.
As the sun began to rise, I met a young boy, a true entrepreneur selling puff-puffs, a traditional West African snack, along with fresh, hot coffee
It was too early for puff-puffs.
but it was the perfect moment for a cup of coffee.
He poured me a cup, and we stood together at his small cart, quietly taking in the beauty of the sunrise. When I took my first sip, I was stunned, the flavor was rich, complex, and unlike anything I’d ever tasted.
I asked the boy where the coffee came from.
With pride glowing on his face, he replied:
“It’s from here! It’s Cameroonian coffee, we make it!”
In that moment, I knew I wanted to share this experience, this flavor, this pride, this connection with the world.
